mTORC1: a molecular lead towards cancer prevention
Can one single mechanism prevent cancers that are mechanistically diverse?
"All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." (Tolstoy). And so it is with cancer. Each and cancer is malignant in its own way, with its own mechanisms and its own etiology. And yet - studies persistently identify diminished cancer rates in conditions that inhibit mTORC1. Using LFS as a case in point, we seek to understand how mTORC1 inhibition prevents cancers that are caused by mutant p53
